Street Theatre Project for
“Anti-Drugs and Smoking Awareness”
Took place on mobile theatre, went to 10 spots in Karachi for spreading the awareness about harm of drugs and smoking.

The campaign, which aims to create awareness among young men and women about the effects of drugs on health, was continued for a week. Thespianz performers have been made stops at various landmarks across Karachi. Thespianz performers used their breath-taking dance moves and melodious beats to entertain a small crowd that had gathered outside Floating Ship along the beach. The dance performance and the play were part of the inauguration ceremony of Anti-Drugs Theatre Awareness Campaign of Thespianz and Anti-Narcotics Force-Sindh. The performers of ‘Dhuwaan’ tried to show the troubles that emerge from drugs’ addiction. The play showed how people of every age and gender could become addicted to drugs and how the drugs ruin their socio-economic life. The play showed the lives of drug addicts as they lie on roadsides, their domestic lives in which they fight with their wives and children, as an addicted father was unable to do any job to make money.
Project Overall Impact
To Quit Smoking & Drugs
The performed awareness based musical play in the project was specifically designed for the youth highlighting university and college school life of youngsters. Many elements of the play positively stroked on the audience mind and a number of youth promised to quite smoking or any kind of substance after watching “Dhuwaan”.
The project areas have been selected after a survey conducted by Thespianz team. The areas that has been covered by this project are likely to have a number of drug addicts and mostly areas are elite. The elements of drugs addressed by this project are mostly uses by the elite and less by the middle class.

“The viewers may quit drugs or smoking later after watching this performance but I Quit Now“. These was the words of Pakistani famous Comedian and host, Faisal Qazi who vowed to quit smoking at the project launching ceremony at sea view Karachi.
He was very much connected with the theatre play and feeling many character inside him who were affecting of drugs. In the end of the play, he came to the stage, broke his entire pack of cigarettes and threw away the damaged packet.
He also stated that the play is very strong and I am very happy and satisfied that it will going to teach our generation about the demerits of drugs and smoking, I am very much hopeful that the play will urge other people like me to quit drugs use and smoking.
