Arts Management Residency Program

About Program:

Thespianz Pakistan and Goethe Institut – Karachi have initiated first ever “Arts Management Residency Program” in Pakistan held at Goethe Institut in 2014. Thespianz shortlisted 12 fellows from all over Pakistan (especially rural areas) on merit bases. The participants belong from arts and cultural background, few were folk singers and motivational speakers of their ares and a famous (female) TV show “Mazaq Raat” host was also attended the residency. Goethe Institut invited two famous German Instructors Dr. Patrick S. Föhl and Marc Gegenfurtner who gave the training workshops on Arts Management.

Dr. Patrick S. Föhl

He is the founder and head of the Kulturberatung network, Berlin (since 2004). As project manager, implementation of various cultural planning projects, including for the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, Stuttgart cultural region, the Euskirchen, Ostprignitz-Ruppin, Kyffhäuserkreis / Nordhausen, Hildburghausen / Sonneberg and the cities of Düsseldorf, Augsburg, Ulm, Plovdiv, Potsdam, Dessau-Roßlau, among others. He is a speaker and lecturer at universities and institutions in Germany and abroad (including Egypt, Chile, China, Greece, Austria, Pakistan, Poland, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam).
It was a great initiative by Thespianz Foundation to uplift the Pakistani deprived artists community and provided them a chance to get a comprehensive arts management training that will certainly pay back them in their entire life. I enjoyed my visit to Pakistan and hosting of Team Thespianz.

Dr. Patrick S. Föhl

He studied General and Comparative Literature and Modern German Literature at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a Magister Artium degree. From February 2000 to September 2001, Gegenfurtner was, among other things, operations director at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart, from May 2004 to February 2005 member of the management team at a Berlin concept agency, and from August 2005 to May 2007 executive dramaturge and member of the theater management at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. He then moved to the state capital of Munich as office manager and personal assistant to the cultural officer.
I enjoyed my living in Pakistan with these 12 amazing fellows from dissimilar cast and creed and hosting of Team Thespianz. It was a thought-provoking journey that contained many productive memories of knowledge exchange.

Marketing & PR

The fellows learned about event and business marketing techniques for initiating or booming their own businesses/events or provide professional services for uplifting their career.


Trainers flourished a special segment covering all fundraising elements including organizing, ticket selling and promoting as well as discussed successful fundraisers case studies.

Board Development

The fellows also learned about the professional board development and selection process to hire advisory or governing board for profitable or non-profit entities.

Business Plans

There was a full day of residency dedicated on business plans development in which the fellows have been given to various tasks to develop and discuss professional business plans and as a conclusion all fellows submitted their sample business plans which they have created during the residency.


The most essential part of the fellows training was to learn about the right planning and execution of any event or activity. There were number of sessions have been organized on the planning topic.

Event Management

As a conclusion of this ten days residency, the 12 fellows prepared to organize and management professional events that pays them off as well as they learned about initiating/running professional business models get monetary support.

Dr. Jameel Ahmed

Artist cum resource person at Pakistan Television – Peshawar for a period of 8 years (1992-2000). Performed in about 8 drama serials.

Naaema Butt

Manager, Extra Curricular Activities in Information Technology University- Punjab. Co-hosted a show “khabarnak” with AftabIqbal at Geo TV.

Shakeel Hussain

The SnR Productions – Running his own Production for the promotion Noble cause (Theater) in Pakistan since last five years.

Tauheed Ahmed

Fellow of IVLP – USA has been working with Dabastan e Khusro Music School for the promotion of Classical, Folk and Sufi Music in Pakistan.

Mehreen Ansari

Managing director at Three style women art and style institute Skardu Baltistan. Selected for HEC indigenous scholarship for MS leading to PHD.

Aqeel Ahmed

Managing director at Three style women art and style institute Skardu Baltistan. Selected for HEC indigenous scholarship for MS leading to PHD.

Ans Khurram

Cultural, Dramatics and Entertainment Society, Event Coordinator (2013-Present), Liaison &
External Relations Head (2010-Present).

Farzana Afridi

Won two times award of best actress in PTV Quetta, Currently serving as a host in PTV Bolan and Khyber TV.

Shehryar Khan

Associated with renowned TV channel of KPK, Khyber (K2), for the last 4 years, have been working as an anchor, actor and script writer.

Nadeem Shah

Music Team Leader in AJK first biggest singing reality show Mzd idol 1(2012to2013) and Won the Title of first Mzd idol. Producer of Mzd ideal season 2.

Rajab Ali

Working with Tibbet Art Council to save Balti culture. Recorded a drama lok geet name “Sikinay” and got praised from Balti people.

Nadir Ali

Recently released his first song from AJK, he is an official singer and lyricist in AJK TV and AJK Cultural Academy. Team leader for Muzaffarabad idol.
